Rafting on the Martha Brae

On the western area of the Island of Jamaica, right in Montego Bay (10 minutes away from the town of Falmouth), an incredible experience takes place: the rafting on the Martha Brae River. The adventure consists in 1 hour and 15 minutes of peaceful sliding along the jade-green waters of the river, while your skillful captain will navigate the 30 feet bamboo raft.
It is a relaxing, Jamaican experience you cannot miss. You will pass through the jungle, among exotic flowers and tropical trees full of colorful birds. You will also have the chance to pole the raft!
The tour starts in the Rafter’s Village, a beautiful area situated on a natural horseshoe-shaped island, where you can find all the facilities you may need: a bar, souvenir shops, a picnic ground, restrooms and a swimming pool.
Before embarking, you can also visit the marvelous Miss Martha’s Herb Garden and stroll through a display of Jamaican herbs, which are renowned for their healing and medicinal properties.
After exploring the village, you will board from the concrete pier, under the supervision of a licensed and experienced dispatcher.
The ride goes over the 3 miles stretch of the amazing Martha Brea River, and as you glide along the waters, you will have the chance to listen to the “Legend of the Martha Brae”, a mystical story about a chest of gold hidden along the river.
Be warned: the exotic surroundings are spectacular, so be sure to bring your camera and capture the moment.
The tour operators recommend to wear a t-shirt, shorts and sneakers during the ride, but hey… don’t forget your swimsuit, you can definitely enjoy a dip in the river’s water, too!
